CASEing the Catty Blog Hop – CTC98 – Warmth and Cheer

Hello and welcome to this week’s CASEing the Catty Blog Hop.CASEing the Catty Blog Hop CTC98 - Warmth and Cheer

Whether you’re joining the Hop here, or if you’ve hopped on over from Kelly – or back from Moniquea BIG hello!

Remember to click on through this week’s CTC crew to see plenty of inspirational projects that the crew have created for you – there’s a full list on the CTC blog page  if you get lost along the way.

This week the crew gets to be inspired by the Warm and Cheer Section of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue – pages 12 – 19.

This week in choosing a set to use, I looked at any of the stamp sets in this section which I have and which have not yet seen ink. I have Hang Your Stocking and the matching Christmas Stocking Thinlits Framelits and have wanted to get them out of their packets. You’ll find the bundle and the inspiration for my CASE on page 15.

We have family Christmas Stockings which we hang every year – a tradition stated more than 25 years ago when we lived in Regina Canada. We spent both our Canadian Christmas’ with our adopted Canadian Family – the Heinrich’s in Davidson, Saskatchewan – and we were honoured to have them make and gift us own stockings the first Christmas we shared with them. After our children were born I made them their own to hang with ours each year.

So I decided to CASE that cute card with the 3 stockings – but have 4! Each of the Stockings is named – just like our real ones are!

But rather than making a card – I made a Home Decor item that I could keep and use every year!

The stockings are adhered to one of the patterns from the Neutral Stacks of DSP (Designer Series Paper) – silver and with a soft script. There are so many wonderful words on this DSP – I love it! The DSP is matted onto a piece of Real Red which is then popped up with dimensionals onto a 12×12 sheet of Silver Glimmer Paper – it just sparkles in real life! The page is then displayed in  deep 12×12 frame.

While the 3-stocking card was the main inspiration for my CASE, I did add elements from the other two cards as well.

Rather than stamping the stockings as is done in the original card – I’ve used the Framelits like the centre card at the top of the page. Like that card – I also tied one of the gorgeous wee Christmas Trinkets Embellishments on each stocking. Though I’ve stayed with the Real Red, Smokey Slate and Whisper White colour palette.

I loved the look of the sentiment above the fireplace in the top left-hand card …

2016_10_creativejax_ctc98_hang_your_stocking_7The Noel die is just too cute! So easy to add the word perfectly spaced and positioned evenly!

Here’s another close up.

2016_10_creativejax_ctc98_hang_your_stocking_4One of the other things I was struck by when I was taking some photos for my post was the stunning Bokeh effects that the Silver Glitter sheets give – here’s what I mean.

So I put my frame on the sideboard today – it’s not too early for Christmas decorations is it ?!?!

  1. What a sweet and clever project idea, framed stockings with names! Just beautiful.

  2. This is fabulous Jackie – and I love that you’ve transformed it into home decor. What a great present that would make! Kelly x

  3. Julia, what a fantastic idea of the home decor piece that is specially made for your family and you can use each year.

  4. What a gorgeous piece to display at Christmas, Jackie and a fabulous CASE. Love those cute stockings. I’m trying not to cave on this one, lol.

  5. Jackie this is gorgeous. I wouldn’t have given it away in a card either! I love the little Christmas embellishment on each. But most of all I love that you have your names on them – when I was five we moved to the UK for 2 years and my 2 sisters and I each got a stocking with our name on it in the first year from some fancy department store. After my brother was born he got one too for the following year- we used them until I left home! So they gave me a little nostalgic memory, thankyou.

  6. Love those little stockings Jackie, so many tiny details.

  7. What a great idea making a framed piece of art! I also do love your little stockings with everyone’s name on them, that is really cute! Great CASEing and thanks for the inspiration!

  8. All that fantastic sparkle will dazzle your Christmas. I love your project! And I love that you’ve named all your stockings.
