CASEing the Catty CTC168 – Copper Passion

I’m sharing a little Copper Passion in this week’s CASEing the Catty project

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty Blog Hop and Sunday Challenge.

Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped on over from Rachel Palmieri –  a big WELCOME!

CTC168 – Petal Passion

This week the CTC Crew are CASE-ing a project from pages 22-27 in the Occasions Catalogue featuring the Petal Passion Suite of products
If you’re not sure what CASEing the Catty (CTC) is all about, there is more information about the challenge group further down in my post.

These six pages contain much more than the Petal Passion Suite – there are 3 sets of stamps and coordinating framelits, a stunning Memories and More Card Pack along with a brand new product – Brusho Crystal Colour. There are so many projects to inspire us too! So it was a hard job to choose which project to CASE, but I put on my “big girl pants” and made a decision!

I’ve taken my inspiration from the 12×12″ scrapbook layout on the top of page 24.
I loved the clean look of the page and wanted to make a 12×12″ layout of our recent trip to the Grand Canyon to go with the pocket page I’ve already done. You can read about that pocket page in my Amazing Memories … and More, with the Alaska Achievers February Blog Hop.

Here’s my CTC project for CTC168.
Copper Passion - 12x12" scrapbook page

Details of my CASE

I’ve kept the layout essentially the same – but as I had a panoramic photo I have adapted it a little. I’ve put the mid-portion of the photo up onto dimensionals to give it some depth.

As I did in my Pocket page layout, I’ve featured Copper Foil Sheet with the Black Ice Technique. Thanks for sharing this cool technique Melissa Kerman!

My layout has the same background stamp as the original – the leaf image from the Petal Palette Stamp set stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. It is also the same framelit as the original – the large leaf from the Petals & More Framelits, but I have cut them from Copper Foil Sheets rather than vellum.
Copper Passion - scrapbook page elements
The photo is layered over one of the Petal Passion Memories & More cards – a 4×3″ one that I have cut and positioned at the top and bottom of my photo.

The original project added texture and contrast to the top and bottom of the page using an embossing folder and some stitching. As you can see above, I’ve matted my 12×10″ piece of Copper Foil onto a 12×12″ sheet of Basic Black and added some Copper trim for texture.
This trim is actually a tube structure and I cut this up through the tube as I only wanted a single layer – it reminded me of the layered rock structure of the canyon!
You can also see the Copper trim in the closeup below.

I changed the location of the sentiment and embellishment as I didn’t want to cover any of the canyon image on the left of my page, so “today” moves to the bottom right.
Petal Passion Accents
The “today” is one of the precut accents that are in the Petal Passion Memories & More Card Pack. I added some colour and texture to the accent with a little Copper Embossing and then some Marina Mist added with an Aqua Painter. The little words below are from one of the 3×3″ cards in the pack.

I am loving the Black Ice Technique and have loved adding it to my Memory Keeping. Here’s a close-up of how cool it is! Not only a visual effect – but there’s texture too!

Here are the two completed pages side-by-side

Copper Passion - double page spread

There’s no real journaling on the page – only the location in the Canyon – as there are no words that can really sum up the Grand Canyon – it was amazing!
