The Tutorial Bundle Design Team Blog Hop

To celebrate the release of the October Bundle, the Design Team is holding a Blog Hop.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial, as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.
I have a home decor project to share today. My Tutorial Bundle is also a Home decor item – but a different one!

Snowfall Thinlits meet Takeout Thinlits
There are two thinlits die sets used to make this project.
Takeout Thinlits Dies

I think this stunning wee box has gone under the radar here in New Zealand as it’s among the Halloween products – and we don’t really do Halloween! But trust me – it is soooo much more than Halloween!

The second Thinlits Dies set I have used is the Snowfall Thinlits Dies.
Snowfall Thinlits

Again – another set that may not seem very relevant to us in the Southern Hemisphere as we head into summer.
But it is more than snowflakes … and of course, winter will roll around again – but this set won’t be available then. The products in the Catch a Snowflake Promotion are only available until the end of November.

You can check out all the goodies online by clicking this image.

I have used three of the Takeout boxes, stacked together with a small string of seed lights threaded through all three boxes.
Here a side-by-side view with and without its lights on.
It’s a bit hard to see what the Takeout box looks like in these photos – so here is one as the box is designed to be made – with the opening on the top.

Takeout Box

We made this little cutie at a Team Training day with Jacque Williams.

The image on the left in the photo below shows an empty box the right way up with the top open. The image on the right shows it upside down – how I’ve used it in my home decor piece.
You cut two of the large die to make each box.
I’ve used one of the extra pieces from the set to cut out one side of the box. There are several different shapes that can be used to do this.

I stacked three of them on top of each other.
The top two were completely sealed, while the opening at the bottom box had two of the flaps stuck together and two left so they could be opened. That way I can get tot he battery for the seed lights.

While I have adhered the boxes together, I’ve also wrapped a piece Whisper White Dotted Tulle Ribbon around all of them and tied it off with a bow on top.

I punched holes in the top and the bottom of the boxes to thread the seed lights through.
To help with reflecting the light, there is a piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper in the base of each box.
The top and bottom boxes have one side cut out and closed off with a piece of Window Sheet, while the middle box has both front and back cut out and these openings have no cover.
You can see in the photo below that I’ve decorated the boxes with some of the gorgeous snowflake shapes cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper with three different dies from the Snowfall Thinlits Dies.

There are some stuck to the outside and I’ve suspended three on Whisper White Baker’s Twine inside the middle box among the seed lights.
The image below shows the ribbon wrapped around along with the snowflake decorations.

Thanks Marci! Unfortunately, I no longer have the box the seed lights came in and I only had one like this particular set with the little battery pack. Sorry that is not much help to you! I do have some other types and they say 75cm – but I they look shorter than the ones in this project. So maybe 1 metre?

Love this little box. Will make really cute Christmas decorations. What length seed lights did you use for the boxes?
