Pretty Cards & Paper Blog Hop – Ornate Garden

A diagonally opening gift box & card featuring the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper

Hello from New Zealand – It’s your friendly Kiwi here!

Welcome to this month’s Pretty Cards & Paper International Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world – one from each of the countries/markets that Stampin’ Up! has a presence in and I’m really honoured to be part of the Design Team! Love how Stampin’ Up! has brought us together!

Each month we will be featuring a different card or designer series paper (DSP)  in our projects.

We’re featuring an early-release Specialty Designer Series Paper this month – the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP.

Diagonally Opening Gift Box

My awesome upline Kristine McNickle recently shared a diagonal lidded gift box in our monthly team meeting/training. She had taken inspiration from a design by Julie Dimatteo. – altering the dimensions.

I’ve made some more adjustments to the measurements and style that we did with Kristine to make the lid of the box a single split, or hinged, lid rather than two separate triangle shapes.

 Additional Project Photos

The daisies were fussy cut out and have those gorgeous Gilded Gems added to their centres. Of course, the DSP is carried through to the inside of the card!

Ornate Garden

The layers of white and gold were made using the Ornate Layers Dies. For the card I used the diecuts at the actual size of the dies but for the gift box I adjusted the size – making each a little smaller to fit.

For the box, I wrapped the layers over one edge of the box.

Te box is held closed by the ribbon around the side, and then opens diagonally to reveal the box base inside.

The box lid is all made from one piece of DSP.

Here are the measurements for the Box (base and lid) with cutting and scorelines marked.
