Design it with DSP (Designer Series Paper) – Gorgeous Gingham Gala

Gingham Gala Rectangle Stitched Framelits

Design it With Designer Series Paper

Welcome to this month’s Design it with Designer Series Paper Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world – one from each of the countries/markets that Stampin’ Up! has a presence in. We have come together to share projects focusing on the beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the Stampin’ Up! Catalogues.

Each month we will be featuring a different designer series paper and in February we are featuring another DSP from the Occasions Catalogue – the bright and cherry Gingham Gala.

Gingham Gala DSP

Here’s all the important info:

Gingham Gala 6″ X 6″ (15.2 X 15.2 Cm) Designer Series Paper  (148554)

Classic gingham checks in light, fresh colours. Large check design on one side; smaller check design on the other side.

  • 40 sheets: 8 each of 5 double-sided designs
  • 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
  • Acid free
  • Lignin free

Coordinating colours: Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White

I wanted to use all five colours in my project this month and the layers of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits were perfect for the project I had in mind.

Gingham Gala Stitched Rectangles

I’ve used the side of the DSP that has the smaller check, and inlaid one layer of each of the five colours which have been cut using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.

Those wooden butterflies are from Butterfly Elements –  a Sale-A-Bration item you can earn for free with a qualifying order.

The ribbon (Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon) is part of the Gingham Gala Product Suite, so co-ordinates with the DSP beautifully.

The die-cut sentiment is one of the fourteen sentiments included in the Well Written Framelits. It is cut in Balmy Blue and mounted onto another of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits before being adhered to the ribbon.

You can see the stitching and how the pieces nest inside each other in the closeup below.

I cut out rectangle frames from each DSP  – working from large to small. After cutting the first rectangle, I then layered the cut DSP and the associated framelit on top of the next layer along with the next size down of framelit. I repeated this process with all the colours. I did this so that I would be able to sit each rectangle inside of the other. The photo below shows four of the five arrangements I used when die-cutting the DSP.

And here are the finished pieces of cut DSP and the four framelits I used.

By mixing the colours I had several options to work with.

In addition to the Welcome card I made two others.

First up a Good Luck card that used the four shapes that were outside of the frames  (shown in the bottom right of the photo above).

These were adhered to a Balmy Blue card base starting with the Lemon Lime Twist DSP which has the smallest cutout rectangle. Then Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather and lastly Daffodil Delight.

The sentiments and images are from the Amazing Life stamp set which co-ordinates with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits. These are available individually or as a bundle – always a great option as that has a 10% discount on both items! You can click on the image to view more details of the Amazing Life Bundle in my Online Store.

I stamped the sentiment in Stazon onto a piece of Whisper White that had been cut out with one of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and then coloured it with my Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker. The flourishes are stamped in Balmy Blue and the cardstock was popped onto the card front with dimensionals, so a hint of the Balmy Blue was visible behind the Whisper. The clover leaf was stamped in black Stazon, coloured in Lemon Lime Twist, fussy cut and also popped onto a dimensional.

In the close up below you can see the layering and also the embellishments – the Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins

My third card uses the rectangles that were cut out of each frame. These were the set in the bottom left hand corner of the photo further up in my post.

For this Birthday card I’ve positioned each layer so that all the the top left hand corners are in the same place. Each layer is popped up on dimensionals. The image and sentiment were stamped in Lemon Lime Twist.
