Create with Pip & Jax – Positive Thoughts Online Class – March

Create with Pip & Jax

by the Dock

A new month, a new Class from Create With Pip and Jax, and a new “normal” for us here in New Zealand and around the globe!

For me here in New Zealand, at the moment I will only be offering this class for sale as a pdf tutorial – delivered by email.

Unfortunately, I will not be offering the option of purchasing the full online class which includes ordered product, the pdf and prepared kits to make the class projects – at this time.

I have made the personal, and difficult decision to not to place any orders for Stampin’ Up! product while the current restrictions of  Alert Level 4 are in place.

Some background

New Zealand is currently in at Alert Level 4 due to the Covid-19 Global Pandemic. That means our whole country is in lockdown for at least 4 weeks except for essential services. Like many places, we have gone through limitations and then bans on social gatherings which, of course, meant  I have previously canceled all in-person events.  At Alert Level 4 our postal and courier services are classified as Essential Services and the current guidelines are that those services are only to be used for essential services.

https://covid19.govt.nz/government-actions/covid-19-alert-level/essential-businesses/?fbclid=IwAR0JHn7YJLO15dLdOJZPHgjmlpqPhwDNlkhjqcPEf7WwOMMCMhBk6FysmU4

If the guidelines change regarding non-food essential services, then I will relook at my position – but I do truly believe the fewer items coming into, being sorted and being moved around our country, and the fewer trips being taken by deliverers will not only help break the chain of transmission but also help ensure the transport of essential items continues.

So while I know my decision affects not only me and my business but also my wonderful customers – crafty friends who place orders with me and purchase other items like classes to go and kits, I have decided to not place any order for Stampin’ UP! product (for myself or others) non mail/courier any items under Alert Level 4 and the current associated guidelines.

But I am still delighted to share the details of April’s Create with Pip & Jax class -a global collaboration between myself and Pip Todman (Queen Pip Card).

We are two good friends who met online, and then in person, and we just clicked.

Anniversary Shaker Card – Totally Techniques March Blog Hop

Wedding Shaker Card

Anniversary Shaker card

totally Techniques

Hello and Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop!  I’m Jackie Noble from Porirua in New Zealand.

This month, our featured technique is Shaker Cards – thanks for the great theme Nadine!

Anniversary Shaker Card

Tomorrow is Roy’s and my 34th Wedding Anniversary. We were supposed to be celebrating that in Tonga this weekend – but of course that has been put on hold for the moment.

I’m hoping Roy won’t see this post until tomorrow and his card will still be a surprise, but I really wanted to make a shaker card for him so I’m taking the risk.

Wedding Shaker Card

Today (it’s Saturday 28th here in New Zealand) we are at Day 3 of Alert Level 4 – a total Nationwide lockdown.

As well as the affect this is having on my small business, we’ve had a few personal things canceled – or postponed.  Last night we were booked to go to the Book of Morman Musical in Auckland before we flew out to Tonga this morning. The show was canceled as soon as restrictions were placed on mass gatherings. And sadly my Christmas present – a  Meerkat Close Encounter Experience at the Wellington Zoo – was also postponed earlier in the week. But I should be able to rebook that at some stage.

But … in the scheme of things – these things pale to insignificance of what we are facing globally – let’s all do our bit to break the chain of transmission.

It will be a memorable Anniversary  – the first one we’ve had during a National Emergency!

Background

The Snow Globe Scenic dies and Snow Domes were Roy’s favourite items in the 2019 Holiday Catalogue and I was delighted when they were on the Carryover List as I hadn’t managed to make him a card with them when the Holiday Catalogue ended. Given a reprieve, an Anniversary card is the perfect reason to make something special for him!

And as I’ve mentioned before – Roy has said he thinks the Meerkats are the cutest set that Stampin’ Up! has ever made! So, of course, I decided to use them on my card as well!

These photos provide some visual background to my card. This is us outside the church we were married at ( St Peter’s Catholic Church in Wairoa) on our wedding day with our wedding party, and then again on our anniversary a couple of years ago when we were home for a visit.

              St Peters CHurch Wairoa

The colour palette came from our wedding day – White for the dress, flowers and church, Garden Green for the Church doors and Real Red for the bridesmaids’ dresses, my flowers and the ties the groom and groomsmen wore.

And the shaker card has rice in it of course!

Project Details

(Note: see the Product List below for images & links to more information about the items)

Stamp sets: The Gang’s All Meer, Well Said

Paper/card:   Garden Green, Whisper White, Peaceful Poppies DSP

Ink: Versamark, Black Momento, Blends – Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Real Red

Accessories: Snow Globe Shaker Dome, Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle, Foam Adhesive Strips, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Glue Dots, White Embossing Powder

Tools: Well Written Dies, Snow Globe Scenes Dies

Non Stampin’ Up!: Rice

Additional Project Photos

Here’s a close-up so you can get a better look at that handsome Groom and gorgeous Bride – what a cute couple!!!

Anniversary Shaker Card

Doesn’t the tule ribbon make a cute wee veil?! The Groom’s tie was hand-drawn and coloured with the Dark Real Red Blend. The bouquet flowers are from the top of the Cacti and also coloured with the Real Red Stampin’ Blend. The Meerkats themselves are coloured with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Blends.

As I usually do,  there are some elements from the front of my card carried through to the inside. This time the matting is repeated and there are more die cut words from the Well Written Dies.

Wedding Shaker Card

In the photo below you can see the shaker dome a bit more clearly with the DSP behind it.

Anniversary Shaker Card

Snow Globe Shaker Domes

I love how easy these domes are to work with.

Die-cut the dome shape (in Whisper White on my card), peel the adhesive off the front side of the dome, poke through the die-cut opening and adhere it, add your shaking things (rice for me) to the dome, peel off the adhesive from the other side of the dome and stick to the backing cardstock  (mine was the Garden Green and DSP layer) to seal.

Now it’s time to see what projects the other blog hop participants have shared today.

Monochrome Blossoms – Stampin’ Creative March Blog Hop

Monochrome Blossoms

Monochrome Blossoms

Welcome to March’s Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world and we love blogging together each month to share new Creative projects with you all. You’re currently with Jackie Noble – aka CreativeJax – in Porirua, New Zealand.

This month our theme is one of my favourite styles – monochrome and my project is in one of my favourite colours – Night of Navy.

Monochrome Blossoms Card

Monochrome Blossoms

Project Details

Stamp sets: Forever Blossoms

Paper/card:

  • Night of Navy
    • Card Base 29.7cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.8cm on the long side
    • Front – 11.2cm x 7.5cm
    • scrap for sentiment
  • Very Vanilla
    • 14.3cm x 10.3cm – inside & outside
    • Front – 12cm x 8.5cm

Ink: Night of Navy, Night of Navy Blends, Versamark

Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, 1cm Denim Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Wink of Stella

Tools: Parisian Flourish 3D, Blender Pen, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Nature’s Thoughts Dies, Classic Label Punch

 Additional Project Photos

The background was created by swiping the Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad across the embossing folder before placing the Very Vanilla cardstock into the folder. The folder was well covered with ink and then the cardstock placed into the folder and run through the Embossing machine.

Once removed from the folder, any areas that were raised had no ink on them. A Blender Pen was used to spread the colour over these areas from the flat areas of the cardstock where there was lots of ink. it sort of reminds me of oldfashioned wallpaper!

Once dry, the coloured, embossed cardstock was stuck to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The ribbon was wrapped around the card front and a bow tied to the left.

To achieve the monochrome blossom image, I stamped the large blossom image in Night of Navy ink onto the smaller piece of Very Vanilla. Taking a Blender Pen, I gently used the brush to “pull” the colour from the stamped image into areas where there was no colour.  A bit like colouring-in using the ink that was already there.

Once completely dry, the cardstock was run through the cutting machine with the rectangle shape from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Love the detail around the edges. The rectangle was matted onto the Night of Navy mat and then onto attached to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Monochrome Blossoms

I added some Wink of Stella onto the flowers, along with Basic Rhinestones which had been coloured with Night of Navy Blends.

Monochrome Blossoms

On the inside of the card, the bottom of the Very Vanilla had the same technique applied as the on the card front – but only to the bottom portion.

Monochrome Blossoms

Now it’s time to see what projects the other members of the Design Team have chosen to CASE – and what they’ve created!

Flowering Foils – Maui Achievers March Blog Hop

Flowering Foils Thank Yous

Maui Blog Hop Header
Hello and Welcome to the January  Maui Trip Achievers’ Blog Hop.

Those hopping today are all Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all around the world who met the requirements to earn the amazing 2020 Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Maui. While every demo can work towards and potentially earn the trip, only a limited number of demos (less than 1% of all demonstrators) reach the level required to earn the trip each year.

As Achieving Demonstrators, we hop together once a month to show you ideas and designs using current Stampin’ Up! products.

We are in the last few days of SaleABration (SAB) so I decided to share a project featuring one of the pretty SAB papers. I’ve been so impressed with the number and variety of Designer Series Papers (DSP) that we’ve had in the 2020 SAB offering.

Flowering Foils Thank You Cards

Flowering Foils

My March Thank You cards for customers are without sentiments as I felt they didn’t need words and were suitable to be used by the recipient for any occasion.

Project Details

(Note: see the Product List below for images & links to more information about the items)

Stamp sets: n/a

Paper/card:

  • Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) – flowers
  • Calypso Coral – embossed (12.8cm x 8.5cm)
  • Thick Whisper White – card base (14.8cm x 21cm – scored at 1.5cm on long side)

Ink: Soft Suede Classic Ink Pad, Pear Pizzaz and Calypso Coral

Accessories: Whisper White 1/4″ (6.4 Mm) Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, Pear Pizzaz Light

Tools: Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder, Paper Snips

 Additional Project Photos

I sponged colour from the Pear Pizzaz & Calypso Coral Classic inkpads onto the foil using the sponge daubers, and then used the Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the smaller areas

By first applying a light coat of Suede Soft to  the embossing folder with the sponge brayer, when the cardstock was then added and embossed it resulted in a distressed/vintage look on the Calypso Coral.

Whisper White Ribbon was coloured with the dark Soft Seafoam to coordinate with the Pear Pizzaz and the flower images were fussy cut out with my trusty paper snips.

Now hop and through and see what everyone else has been busy creating.

Let’s CASE Shelli – Stampin’ Creative February Blog Hop

Shelli Parisian

Let’s CASE Shelli!

Welcome to February’s Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world and we love blogging together each month to share new Creative projects with you all. You’re currently with Jackie Noble – aka CreativeJax – in Porirua, New Zealand.

This month’s we are CASEing projects created by Stampin’ Up!’s Co-Founder – Shelli Gardner.

Many of the design team were lucky enough to catch up and have a team photo with Shelli in Dortmund last November at On Stage. It was then that we decided to add CASE Shelli as a theme.

Shelli’s Card that I am CASE’ing

The card I’ve chosen to CASE is one I saw Shelli make at the 2013 Stampin’ Up! Convention in Brisbane. We were celebrating Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary.

It was also my first convention and when I first got to meet Shelli. In fact, it was after that meeting that I decided to have a go at turning this hobby I loved into my own business. I’m sure glad I talked with Shelli that day!

So here’s Shelli actually showing her card at the 2013 Convention. That’s part of the card on screen at the top. There was a HUGE screen above the stage that showed what Tom (the cameraman) was filming. Handy when we were in a large room.

Shelli Demo'ing her card

And this is Shelli’s whole card which I grabbed from her blog So Shelli. There are still posts on her blog from that time which include some of the projects she did.

A little left-field again – Masquerade meets  Country Club

2020 Feb - Party at the Country Club

Hello from New Zealand – It’s your friendly Kiwi here!

Welcome to this month’s Pretty Cards & Paper International Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world – one from each of the countries/markets that Stampin’ Up! has a presence in.

Each month we will be featuring a different card or designer series paper (DSP)  in our projects.

We’re featuring the stunning Country Club DSP in January.  This paper is flying off the warehouse shelves – so get it quick!

Country Club DSP                         151314

Country Club DSP

Here’s all the important info:

Country Club Designer Series Paper  151314

Hit a hole in one with clubhouse-themed paper from the Country Club Designer Series Paper. This high-quality printed paper is excellent scrapbook paper, card making paper, and more. Pack includes various golf-themed images, prints, and patterns. It’s a great choice for masculine cards and projects. Ask your demonstrator about coordinating products.

12 sheets of patterned paper: 2 each of 6 double-sided designs
12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm)
Acid free
Lignin free

Product colours: Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Poppy Parade, Whisper White

Masquerade Meets Country Club

As soon as I saw this particular pattern in the Country Club DSP it made me think of a jester at a Masquerade Ball.

2020 Feb Party at Country Club

And when I was looking at the Country Club Elements – I decided those little shields would make great glasses. Maybe I was influenced by the fact that I would be seeing Elton John in Concert – he could certainly wear these!
